Here’s the typical journey you’ll go through when joining a data pipeline:

1. You’ll receive an invitation

Once you’ve been selected for a data pipeline, you’ll receive the onboarding instructions together with the services agreement. Once signed, you’ll receive invitations to:
  1. Slack: Check Zara’s welcome message to join the pipeline’s team channel
  2. Expert email: Get your Google Workspace credentials you will use to access relevant documents and platforms
  3. Platform access: Get credential to the work platform
  4. Hubstaff: Time tracking tool used in hourly based contracts.
  5. Karma Check: Background check platform micro1 is partnered with.

2. Pipeline onboarding

Before you start working, you’ll go through pipeline-specific training:
  • Review the pipeline instructions - this is your source of truth
  • Watch any training videos or walkthroughs
  • Complete sample tasks to practice (if required)
  • Pass any qualification requirements (like quizzes or test tasks)
Some pipelines let you jump straight into creating tasks, while others require you to pass an additional vetting step first. Your pipeline lead will let you know which applies to you.

3. Start creating tasks

Once you’re qualified, you’ll begin working on real tasks:
  • Tasks are typically completed on a dedicated platform
  • Each task has specific instructions you’ll need to follow
  • You’ll track your time using Hubstaff while working
  • Your work goes through quality review before final approval

4. Ongoing work and feedback

As you continue working:
  • You’ll receive feedback from reviewers to help you improve
  • Pipeline instructions may be updated - always check for changes
  • You can ask questions in your team’s Slack channel
  • Your performance will be tracked to ensure quality standards
